Bishop Lamont

The next heir to the Aftermath throne Bishop Lamont's in da house!

I heard about Bishop in a Podcast which played 2 of his tracks and mentioned his 'Nigger Noize' mixtape, which I of course downloaded and finally has given a few listens together with his and Black Milk's 'Caltroit' mixtape, a Cali vs. Detroit kinda thingie, sweaty as hell shite as well, with tons of awesome emcees, check it out!

Bishop is signed to Aftermath and his debut 'The Reformation' is supposed to drop somewhere inside the second quarter of 2008. Before Dr. Dre's long awaited 'Detox' hit the streets, an album which should feature Bishop Lamont on a good deal of tracks.

Until it all drops, kick back and surf by Bishop's joint at Myspace and download the mixtapes there and get into his world of cool rapping n' rhyming, and most of the time the man actually have a message, which is delivered clever and with thought.

Outkast featuring Raekwon track

Kicking back, drinking a glass of wine and surfing the net, and boo ya, I come by a link to a new Outkast track featuring Raekwon called 'Royal Flush', fine tune with good rhyming (and dope words) from all 3, Big Boi, Raekwon and Andre 3000, on top of a funky bassline and simple beats.

Check it out!

Spinning on da turntable

The last couple of days have been in the sign of the one and only Immortal Technique and his single 'The Point Of No Return', a tad old, yea I know, but still damn fine and aggressive, straight in your face political and social realistic rhyming on sweet beats and dope strings, bam bam bam...!

The title track in clean, dirty and instrumental versions. The b side features more good shite, 'Internally Bleeding' in clean, dirty and instrumental versions and the dirty as fuck version of 'Caught In A Hustle'.

When listening to 12" singles I miss more releases as this, this version, that version and the instrumental track, damn fine shite to check out and get into, it all bring forth new visions and joys by digging music!

No more Actionspeax

Damn damn damn, Denmark's free and so far only hip hop rag Actionspeax has decided to call it quits, a damn shame as it offered some good and interesting reads about this and that and most in between. The last issue #13 is right now online at www.actionspeax.dk, and won't be published in the printed version this time, so drop by the website and have the last read and give some props!

Do also drop by the download site at Actionspeax and cop the tracks there which are available, freestyle shit made in a day by various Danish rappers and producers for the fun of it! This time around Johnny Hefty has been in Skanderborg and has done shit with Bobby H, Ham Den Lange, Kejser A, Rødhætte, Henrik Hass, D-On, EnniOne & Hakkimm.

Now, as a last feature, we just need the good people at Actionspeax to make all the Actionspeax tracks available, either as downloads or a slick 'n dope vinyl or CD release...!

RIP and props up for a good rag!!!

More Muggs

Can anyone get enough of DJ Muggs' shite or is it a disease that only has hit me? Recently I've had a few listens to different tracks from his newest release DJ Muggs vs. Sicken Jacken (feat. Cynic) - 'Legend Of The Mask And The Assassin' and wow, dope shit that is, it all seems really well done, awesome eerie Muggs beats and samples and straight in your face rhyming from especially Sicken Jacken, but also Cynic, I gotta cop this record sooner than later!

The tune 'Land Of Shadows' has me by its claws, damn fine track!

Death Row's in the house

A couple of weeks ago I copped the, then, new edition of the UK rag Hip Hop Connection, which featured a big arse feature on Death Row Records and had a Death Row CD sampler included. All tracks being remixes of classics from the golden period of Death Row. Most of the shit rock hard, and is somewhat boomier than the originals, and some more directed at the dance floor with heavier than heavy bass and chick choruses, not that, that matters a lot as most of it works out well!

Track list (all remixes):

Dr. Dre - Let Me Ride
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Gin & Juice.. juuust rooolling
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Who I am (What's My Name)
Dr. Dre - Nuthin' But A G Thang
2Pac - I Get Around
Jewell - Fuck Wit Dre Day
2Pac feat. Scarface - Smile For Me Now
Dr. Dre - Lil Ghetto Boy

Bought some new shit yesterday

Yeaaa! Finally got off my arse and picked up a couple of new releases...

First the new album from Denmark's L.O.C. - 'Melankolia/XxxCouture', a double album dealing with the 7 cardinal sins from 2 points of view, one on each disc, I have only had one listen so far, but it seems fine and throughly worked through, looking forward to getting deeper into the album. Great productions on the album as well!

Next up is Pete Rock with 'Ny's Finest', a new album from THE MAN! One of my fave producers and beat-makers and even though this album only has gotten one spin so far, it's not a let down, it seems damn damn fine, not more than 2-3 weak tracks it seems. With emcees as Styles P and Sheek louch, Redman, The Lords Of The Underground, Raekwon, Masta Killa and Papoose things can't go much wrong.

http://www.myspace.com/peterock (seems like the whole album is being streamed there right now, do check it out!!!)

The last disc is not that new, it was released last summer, namely Guru's Jazzmatazz Vol. 4 - 'Back To The Future'. Again Guru and producer Solar going nuts in jazzy beats and supreme emcee skills, Guru still has it and there are of course as always a lot of superb guest performances on the album.

New Jokeren track online

One of Denmark's best rappers is back with a new track 'Yæssør', a decent track, a bit "in the club"-like vein compared to the last album 'Gigolo Jesus'. If you aren't from Denmark, you might know Jokeren for his time in LA with his producer crew Madness 4 Real, where they did some productions for Ruthless Records/Priority Records back in the day...

Check it out on Jokeren's own Myspace site, where a couple party mixes of the track has appeared as well or at Ezi Cut's Myspace site...

A week in the sign of DJ Muggs

Dj Muggs has been filling up my universe this week, lately Soul Assassins 'Chapter 1' has been my preferred drug, dusty dusty beats and lots of great rapping from a bunch of highly skilled mcs...

Have also been cruising on the Soul Assassins website, and have been downloading all the good looking mixtapes there, I haven't been listening to any of them yet, though I bet they'll rock, so head to www.soulassassins.com and get into the shit!

Grandmasters

More Wu-Tang rapping for ya'll, DJ Muggs vs. GZA The Genius - Grandmasters has been ripping my ears and harassing my neighbors most of today. The profound rapping and rhyming from GZA paired with the dusty laid back beats from DJ Muggs (Cypress Hill) are sweets for the ears. The production is spot on in my ears and fits the laid back rapping from GZA well, and some of the bass lines used, hot damn, DJ Muggs knows how to bring up the low frequencies.

The tune 'Queens Gambit' is also brilliant, GZA rapping over the names of the NFL teams, cool game and suits a kid as me, who digs the NFL, looking even more forward to a new season or game, when spinning that exact tune!

East Coast for ya'll

Damn, a lot of East Coast shit has been spinning here lately, today Raekwon's 'Only Built For Cuban Linx...' has been taking a good amount of spins... great album, I really dig the atmosphere on it, together with the beats, raps and rhymes... a great entity it all sums up to!

The sequel to the album is also slated to be released very soon...

Enjoying Mash-Out Posse

As we speak, M.O.P.'s 4 Alarm Blaze is spinning on the turntable, and has been for a day or 2, great tune featuring Tef and Jay-Z, check it out!!! It's from the '98 album 'First Family 4 Life', plenty of greatly produced DJ Premier tracks on it as well!

Something's about to start

Master Ace - Revolution's Bout To Start

Kaa... ching... what a track, rap as rap should be... From the compilation 'Top Shelf 8/8/88', a tour de force of old school rap, as suspicious as the story behind some if the tracks are, hehe...

Check out some more Masta Ace at his mypace joint.

Rocking the house as we speak

Jay Z - Roc Boys

The man's new single from the 'American Gangster' album, dope shit, this track can't be spun enough times each day.

Do also check out the video track...

I have also been grooving to Gravediggaz again lately...
